The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that nighttime interstate closures for I-20 have been scheduled to allow for continued construction activities as part of the ongoing bridge replacement project for the LA 531 overpass near Minden in Webster Parish.
On Wednesday, August 7, 2024, I-20 eastbound will be closed and on Thursday, August 8, 2024, I-20 westbound will be closed at the LA 531 interchange.
These closures are scheduled to begin at approximately 7:00 p.m. each night, with the interstate reopened by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
During the closures, traffic will be diverted onto the off-ramps at LA 531, and back onto I-20 via the on-ramps. The purpose of the closures is to allow the contractor to hang the girders for the new bridge that is currently under construction at this location.
The entire bridge project is anticipated to be complete in Summer 2025, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
