Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College is accepting applications for a new Electrical Employment Preparedness and Workforce Readiness program scheduled to begin June 15 at its Minden campus.
The short-term training course will run through August 7 and is designed to provide students with foundational electrical knowledge, hands-on training, and workplace readiness skills needed for entry-level employment opportunities in the electrical and construction industries.
Classes will be held at NLTCC’s Minden campus, located at 9500 Industrial Drive. Instruction is scheduled from 8 AM to 2:30 PM Monday through Thursday and from 8 AM to noon on Fridays.
According to NLTCC, the program will cover electrical safety, OSHA awareness, tool identification and usage, basic circuitry, wire pulling, blueprint reading, and conduit bending. Students will also receive training in teamwork, communication, professionalism, and other employability skills.
Participants who successfully complete the program can earn multiple industry-recognized certifications and will have opportunities to interview with prospective employers upon completion.
Scholarships are available to help offset the $3,300 cost of the program, making the training accessible to individuals interested in entering the workforce or pursuing apprenticeship opportunities in the electrical trade.
College officials said the program is aimed at helping meet workforce needs while providing students with practical skills that can lead directly to employment.
