October election to include local propositions and Shongaloo races

The Open Primary/Orleans Municipal Parochial Primary Election will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025. Polls will be open from 7 AM to 8 PM statewide.

Voters have several local matters on the ballot, including three school-related propositions and municipal offices in the Village of Shongaloo.

The ballot includes two property tax renewals for the Parishwide School District and one sales tax renewal for School District No. 6. The propositions are:

• Parishwide School District Proposition No. 1: Renewal of 5.78 mills for 10 years.
  
• Parishwide School District Proposition No. 2: Renewal of 2.48 mills for 10 years.
  
• Sales Tax School District No. 6: Renewal of a one-half percent sales and use tax in perpetuity.
  

In Shongaloo, Amanda Sexton qualified unopposed for mayor, and Naomi Adkins qualified unopposed for alderman.
