The City of Minden has announced the return of its Pet Mayor Election, a community-driven fundraiser aimed at supporting local animal welfare efforts.
The 2026 campaign invites residents to nominate their pets and participate in a friendly competition to raise funds for the city’s animal services. Voting is conducted through donations, with every dollar contributing to improvements and care for local animals.
The fundraiser follows the success of the inaugural 2024 Pet Mayor Election, which raised more than $21,000 to help fund construction of the city’s new animal control facility. City officials said they hope to build on that momentum with this year’s event.
Local pets can campaign for several titles, including Pet Mayor, Chief of Pawlice, Fur Chief, and Pet Council Members. Organizers encourage the community to get involved by registering pets, casting votes, and supporting the cause.
Current Pet Mayor Maverick will pass the title to the newly elected Pet Mayor during a collaring ceremony scheduled for Saturday, June 13. The event will formally recognize the winning pets and celebrate the community’s contributions.
City officials described the campaign as both a fun and meaningful way to bring residents together while benefiting animals in need.
Sponsorships and pet registration are now open on the City of Minden’s Facebook page, with additional voting information expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
