Powerlifting: Glenbrook’s Heflin finishes 7th in LHSAA state meet in 165-pound class

Glenbrook’s Ella Heflin finished seventh in the 165-pound weight class in the LHSAA Powerlifting State Championships Friday in New Orleans.

Heflin, the first Glenbrook athlete to qualify for the meet, had a total weight of 635 pounds. Her best legal lifts were 240 in the squat, 120 in the bench and 275 in the dead.

Gia Garlington of team champion Cedar Creek won with a total of 855 pounds (360 squat, 205 bench, 290 dead). She was the only athlete in the weight class to exceed 800 pounds.
