City of Minden employees fill sandbags in preparation for potential flash flooding that could come with the remnants of Hurricane Harvey this week. For those who live outside the city limits of Minden, sandbags can be picked up at the parish barn on Penal Farm Road in Sibley or Highway 2 in Sarepta until 3 p.m. Wednesday. Harvey is expected to bring 2 up to 6 inches of rain by Thursday afternoon and into the weekend. Weather officials say rain chances will decrease after Thursday.
