Project Reclaim brings LYFE Event Day to NLTCC’s Minden campus

by Minden Press-Herald

On Saturday, July 20th, 2025, Project Reclaim brought its LYFE Event Day to Northwest  Louisiana Technical Community College’s Minden campus. The event welcomed high  school students in grades 9th through 12th for a full day of learning, connection, and  personal growth.

The LYFE program, Louisiana Youth for Excellence, is one of Project Reclaim’s signature  initiatives. It is designed to equip young people with the tools and confidence to make  healthy decisions and pursue meaningful goals. This year’s event featured a variety of  interactive sessions that encouraged students to learn about healthy relationships, set  personal goals, build decision making skills, and avoid risky behaviors.

Throughout the day, students engaged with one another, shared ideas, and connected with  mentors who challenged and encouraged them. The event also included music, food, and  giveaways to keep things lively and fun.

NLTCC was proud to provide the campus space for the event, helping ensure that students  had a welcoming and professional environment in which to learn and grow. For many of the  attendees, it was their first time on a college campus and a meaningful introduction to the  possibilities of post-secondary education.

Founded in Minden, Project Reclaim has become a cornerstone of youth empowerment in  the region. Through mentoring, leadership development, and events like LYFE, the  organization works year-round to prepare students to succeed both in and out of the  classroom. Their mission is rooted in the belief that every young person has the potential to  lead, achieve, and thrive when given the right tools and support.
