Reports: Former Minden star Sneed headed to Tennessee Titans in trade

by Russell Hedges

Former Minden High star L’Jarius Sneed is headed to the Tennessee Titans, according to media reports.

Sneed, a cornerback, played the first four seasons of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He played in three Super Bowls and helped the Chiefs win back-to-back titles the last two seasons.

According to the reports, the Chiefs will receive a 2024 third-round draft pick and a swap of 2027 seventh-round picks.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who was the first to report the news, the trade had been in the works for days and it will be a formality after Sneed passes his physical. Sneed will sign a new contract and become one of the highest paid cornerbacks in NFL history, Schefter reported in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

According to Max Verderame, NFL staff writer for SInow.com, Sneed’s contract will include $55 million in guaranteed money. It is reported to be a four-year deal worth a total of $76 million.

In early March the Chiefs placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Sneed. That allowed him to talk to other teams and for the Chiefs to work out a trade, according to ESPN.

”Sneed” was the No. 1 trending topic on X late Friday night and early Saturday morning.

There were many posts thanking the former Louisiana Tech star for his contributions to the Chiefs’ scouting success.

Many of those referenced his big play in this year’s AFC Championship Game against Baltimore when Sneed knocked the ball out of Ravens receiver Zay Flowers’ hands at the goalline in the 17-10 victory.
