Back water threat reason for ending drawdown
The gates at Lake Bistineau’s dam are closing, according to Gene Reynolds, who oversees Louisiana’s State Parks. Reynolds took to Facebook Monday to share the news.
“For all my North Louisiana friends that love Lake Bistineau, DOTD is closing the gates,” Reynolds posted. “The reason, high back water is threatening the structure and some new work that was done. The chances of reopening are slim due to continued excessive rains.
Reynolds said he received information from both Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries as well as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).
“We will have to address the dam structure at some point in the future when funds become available,” Reynolds posted.
