Ribbon cutting held for Mr. Rich Fashions

by Amber McDown

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on November 21 for Mr. Rich Fashions, a new men’s clothing store located at 714 Homer Road.

Owner Rodney Richardson, who still operates another store in Hammond, recently relocated to the area from south Louisiana. Chamber President Stephanie Barnette said the shop fills a gap in the local retail market. “This is a well-needed addition to Minden. Men’s clothing — especially nice men’s clothing — is something we’ve been lacking for a while,” she said.

Mayor Nick Cox noted the convenience the store will bring, recalling times he had to drive to Bossier City for basic items. “I’m just over-the-moon excited about your store. Congratulations, and welcome to Minden,” he said.

Richardson said a personal connection brought him back to the community. He recently reunited with a woman he first met at Grambling in 1976. She, Dr. Beatrice McKinsey, lives in Minden, and they have been back together for five years. Richardson said he opened the store after facing the same challenges shoppers described — traveling to Shreveport for men’s clothing.

“I’m glad to be here in Minden,” Richardson said, adding that the drive from Hammond has begun to feel like “coming home.”

Mr. Rich Fashions is open Wednesday through Friday from 11AM until 6PM and on Saturdays from 11AM until 4PM.
