Lane closures on Interstate 20 will begin Monday and are expected to last until March 1, 2018.
A seven-mile stretch of I-20, through Webster Parish, will be restricted to two-lanes separated by a concrete barrier.
The two-lane traffic will be located between exits 47 (Louisiana Hwy. 371 south) and exit 55 (U.S. Hwy. 80, just across the Bienville Parish line). The closure is necessary to remove and replace 11 inches of asphaltic surfacing. A crucial 12-feet restriction will be in effect for the entire duration of this two-way traffic.
While traffic will continue to flow on I-20, travelers of Louisiana Hwy. 792 in south Webster Parish will have to find an alternative route.
A half-mile stretch of the highway, crossing Mims Grocery Road near Heflin, is closed and is expected to remain closed until Dec. 1.
According to Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, the closure is necessary to make geometric curve improvements and incorporate new base and road surfacing.
