Robert Sonny Lee passed away Oct. 14, 2014. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 18, 2014, at Northwest 14th District Building.
Robert was born May 21, 1947, in Minden to Erdis and Valine Lee. He was the second child of three children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Erdis Lee.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Valine Lee; sister, Mary Eliz. Lee Woods; brother, David E. Lee; niece, Vicky V. Woods Woodson; and great-niece, Lanika V. Woodson Harvey.
A note from his family: It’s a long road from which there is no return; the load didn’t weigh us down. No burden was ever his to bear; we’ll get there, for we know we would not encumber us. He wasn’t heavy; he was our son, brother, uncle and great-uncle.
Sonny took great pride in family, and although he was quiet, he always knew what was going on. He was the type of person that when something was wrong he could sense it and would sneak up on you to either talk or just be there silently to let you know everything was ok. If you were lucky enough to know Sonny, you know he was a sincere and truly a kindhearted individual. There are not many of those left in the world today so I am sad to say we have lost another one. Sonny was a good friend to many but there is a reason he was a “great” son, brother, uncle and great-uncle.
This letter is to him:
Sonny,
Although it is hard to say goodbye, I know if you were here right now in true Sonny fashion, you would put your arms around us and tell us you were OK and everything is going to be alright. So we can move forward knowing that our family has you in our corner making sure we are all OK in a “bigger way.” This is not easy, but we are all here to not say goodbye but farewell, for you have found a way to be with us always. We love you, Sonny.
