John David Swan was born to the late James and Jewel Maeshack Swan March 27, 1948, in Minden.
He attended school at Webster High School and Redmond Spike School.
At an early age, J.D. accepted Christ and united with Mt. Calm Baptist Church in Minden.
He joined the United States Army in 1968 and served his country during the Vietnam Conflict.
J.D. united in holy matrimony to Cassandra Abram.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jewel Maeshack and siblings, Emile, John L., Helen, Georgia and Roosevelt.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Rita Ware of Doyline and Brian (Wanda) Swan of Bossier City; four grandchildren, Shauntoria Shepherd and Tia Thomas of Doyline, Avana Swan of Memphis, Tenn., and Brian Swan Jr. of Bossier City; a special friend, Bobbie McCracken; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014 at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Dubberly. Burial will follow at Sheppard Street Cemetery.
Open visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at Benevolent Funeral Home.
