The Minden Main Street District is inviting runners and families to downtown Minden next month for “Run Minden on Main,” a community race planned as part of the city’s 250/190 anniversary celebration.
The event is scheduled during the June 11-13 anniversary festivities and will feature a race atmosphere focused on both competition and entertainment in the heart of downtown.
Runners along the course will encounter water sprinklers, popsicles, music, cooling rags, and cheering spectators throughout the event.
Participants will receive swag bags that include a tech tank top, drawstring backpack, bib pins, and other items.
Awards also will be presented in several categories, including most patriotically dressed male and female participants. Winners in that category will receive two tasting wristbands for Grilling on Main.
Overall male and female race winners will receive cash prizes, while age group winners will receive custom running hats donated by the Minden Run Club.
Organizers said the first 200 finishers will receive finisher medals. Additional family-friendly activities will include a “Make Your Medal a Magnet” station and face painting for children.
Event organizers described the race as a celebration combining running, food, music, and family activities as part of the citywide anniversary observance.
