Sarepta Christmas festival was a ‘blast’

by Joshua Specht

Special to the Minden Press-Herald

Saturday, December 1, was a perfect outdoor family day at the Sarepta Christmas Festival, starting with a multitude of tasty food and creative craft vendors; a fantastic car show; a taste bud tingling Chili Cook-off; all day entertainment with exceptional bands and talented singers; three bouncy houses and loads of children activities; a Silent Auction with 132 items due to the generosity of caring individuals and many businesses; Babs Slack’s reading of the Cajun Christmas; and Santa, himself, listening to “Wish lists.”

Interesting tidbits

The Guitar autographed by Trace Adkins was won by Steve and Jan Crowe.  The Trivia Contest top winner was Debbie Wood.

Charlotte Garza answered all the questions correctly as well, but since she won last year, she got a consolation acknowledgment. Still available for Christmas gifts are a few cookbooks -“Sarepta’s Cooks, Past and Present.”

Bistineau Blasters fireworks, at dark, were spectacular!    The entire day was truly a family affair “thanks” to all the sponsors and those who gave of their time and energies!
