School expenditures approved in January 2023

During the January 9, 2023, board meeting, the Webster Parish School Board approved numerous expenditures to help maintain and improve campuses across Webster Parish.

The largest expense this month was for renewing the yearly service contract with Homeland Safety for maintaining a number of security-related systems. The total amount was $136,111.04 and it will be paid out of the following funds: $2,559.01 from the Cotton Valley Maintenance Fund; $29,366.95 from the Consolidated District #3 Maintenance Fund; $9,679.90 from the Doyline Maintenance Fund; $65,817.91 from the Minden District #6 ½ Cent Maintenance Fund; $5,638.56 from the Sarepta Maintenance Fund; $13,263.95 from the Springhill Maintenance Fund; $5,264.82 from the Shongaloo Building Fund; and $4,519.94 from the Parish Wide Maintenance Tax Fund.

The Consolidated District #3 Maintenance Fund will be used to pay several invoices including $1,500 to Hercules Ag & Outdoor for installing the new scoreboard at the Lakeside Jr/Sr High baseball field; $1,769.75 to Mechanical Concepts for replacing warranteed sensors and a compressor at Central Elementary; and $2,950 for repairs made to a light pole at Lakeside Jr/Sr High.

The Cotton Valley Maintenance Fund will be used to pay $5,636.39 for adding a CMS unit to the principal’s office at North Webster Upper Elementary. This will allow the principal to monitor all of the school’s cameras from one monitor. 

Mechanical Concepts will receive $6,388.96 for replacing a compressor and inverter board at Doyline High. This will be paid out of the Doyline Maintenance Fund.

Using the District #6 ½ Cent Sales Tax Fund, Claiborne Sharp will receive $28,181.13 for installing/upgrading the sound systems in the main gym, cafeteria, and 6th grade auxiliary gym at Webster Jr High. Mechanical Concepts will receive $2,400 for replacing the oil return solenoid valve in the Webster Jr High 6th grade wing. And Mechanical Cooling Services will receive $2,950 for the purchase of two heat exchangers for Philips Elementary.

North Webster Jr High will be having ten doors with hardware replaced on selected door frames by A&A Building Specialties for $37,108.84 using the Sarepta Maintenance Fund.

The North Webster Lower Elementary cafeteria will have four doors with hardware and two door frames replaced by A&A Building Specialties for $19,410.31 using the Shongaloo Building Fund.

And Brown Upper Elementary will have A&A Building Specialties replace eight doors with hardware, replace some selected hardware, and  adjust seven additional doors for $39,830.39 using the Springhill Maintenance Fund.

The Webster Parish School Board continually seeks to improve and maintain our campuses across the parish to give students excellent environments to learn in. School board meetings are open to the public. The next meeting will be held at the school board office on February 6, 2023, at 6 p.m.
