School expenditures approved in November

During the November board meeting, the Webster Parish School Board approved a number of expenditures to help maintain and improve campuses across Webster Parish.

The Consolidated District #3 Maintenance Fund will be used to pay two invoices incurred at Lakeside Jr/Sr High. Minden Farm and Garden LLC will be paid $1,800 for ryegrass seed for the baseball and softball fields. Hercules Ag & Outdoors will be paid $1,200 for the installation of a new flagpole at the football field. 

In Doyline, Innovative Lawn Works will be paid to overseed the baseball and softball fields ($4,200) and to apply needed fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides to both fields as well ($8,000). Ad Signs will be paid $1,331 for replacing a damaged sign at the school. These payments will come out of the Doyline Maintenance Fund. 

The District #6 ½ Cent Sales Tax Fund will be used for improvements at Minden High and Webster Jr High. At Minden High, Southern Roofing and Vinyl Siding LLC will be paid $5,400 to replace an area of roof over the cafeteria, Fitzgerald Contractors LLC will be paid $2,024.97 to repair a leak on the backflow preventer at the football stadium, and Jett Business Systems will be paid $1,110 to install exit equipment to the new office doors. At Webster Jr High, Mechanical Concepts will be paid $1,950 for labor and materials to replace one warranty compressor, and Mechanical Cooling Services will be paid $5,400 to repair a leak on chiller #2.

North Webster Jr High will be having a 144 sq/ft section of CMU block removed and replaced in their football stadium by Hunt’s Masonry and Restoration for $6,520. The school will also be able to pay an invoice from Mechanical Cooling for $4,800 for the purchase of new evaporator coils and liquid line dryers for HVAC units. These will be paid for out of the Sarepta Maintenance Fund.

The Springhill Maintenance Fund will be used to pay invoices incurred at North Webster High. Mechanical Cooling Services will be paid $4,700 for replacing two fan motors, blades, and sensors on chiller #2, and Lone Star Communications will be paid $2,575.75 for replacing a Silent Knight 5495 power supply for the fire alarm system.

The Webster Parish School Board continually seeks to improve and maintain our campuses across the parish to give students excellent environments to learn in. School board meetings are open to the public. The next meeting will be held at North Webster Jr High on December 5 at 6 p.m.
