Seeds Women’s Center will hold its annual fundraising banquet on Tuesday, October 8, at the Minden Civic Center. The event will begin at 6 PM and feature a meal along with two guest speakers. Tickets are free and available through Eventbrite, but table sponsorships are being offered to help support the center’s mission.
This year’s fundraiser comes as the center experiences significant growth. The nonprofit, which provides pregnancy and family support services, has recently purchased a new facility located at 308 Pine Street, known as the Ward Building. The expanded space will allow the center to better serve the Minden community.
“This building is twice the size of our little blue house,” said Amber Bradford, director of Seeds Women’s Center. “With our center growing, we are facing the challenges of renovating the building to meet our needs, covering higher utility costs, and stocking more supplies.”
Funds raised from the banquet will go toward renovation costs. Bradford stressed the importance of the center’s mission beyond pregnancy services. “Our goal is to help women and families choose to parent their child and then to help them raise that child. It takes a village to raise a child, and we are the village at Seeds.”
The center is calling on community members to get involved through table sponsorships or donations. Those interested in sponsoring a table or pledging support can contact the center at 318-639-0907 or email Bradford at A.Bradford@nwlpcc.org.
“We offer optimal healthcare in a safe and confidential setting at no cost. We provide free pregnancy testing, nurse consultation, and ultrasounds by a licensed and trained medical team,” Bradford added. “Donations go straight toward renovations for the bigger building—walls, doors for the ultrasound room, flooring, lighting, and more.”
The Seeds Women’s Center aims to raise $60,000 to complete the building’s renovations and continue its mission of supporting local families.
