A suspect wanted in the shooting of a woman on Allen Drive Wednesday is now in custody.

Webster Parish Sheriff Gary Sexton says Kendrick Taylor, 36, turned himself in to authorities Friday.
“Kendrick Taylor went to a woman’s house and they got into an argument,” he said. “To my understanding, they have a child together and he shot her in the shoulder. He’s been on the run and he turned himself in voluntarily.”

He is charged with aggravated second-degree battery and aggravated assault with a firearm. Bond has not been set.

Chief Deputy Bobby Igo Jr. said Thursday, the woman was shot in the chest area Wednesday around 6:30 p.m., and her mother drove her to Minden Medical Center. She was later transferred to University Health in Shreveport with non life-threatening injuries, deputies say.

Deputies say Taylor is a registered sex offender and has a lengthy criminal history.
