Sibley man arrested on DWI, other charges

by Minden Press-Herald

A Sibley man was arrested Friday after Louisiana State Police reported he was driving while impaired on Interstate 20 in Webster Parish.

Troopers said they were alerted on August 15 to a grey Jeep Cherokee traveling eastbound on I-20 near milepost 41. The vehicle, driven by 33-year-old C. Braxton Gray, was observed weaving through traffic at a high rate of speed before a traffic stop was conducted.

According to state police, Gray showed signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, stumbling, and the odor of alcohol. Troopers said he performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest.

Gray refused a chemical breath test after being transported to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to the report. During questioning, troopers said he gave conflicting statements about his travel and admitted to taking “all the drugs for fun.”

Gray was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center on charges of second-offense DWI, careless operation and chemical test refusal.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
