Two women led police on chase to Shreveport Saturday
Minden Police have named the two suspects accused of stealing hoverboards and leading police on a high-speed chase over the weekend.
Tawanna Carthan, 28, of the 3000 block of Bibb Street, was booked on charges of aggravated flight, felony theft and conspiracy to commit felony theft.
Shaquana Lafitte, 37, of the 1200 block of N. Pines Drive in Shreveport was booked on charges of felony theft and conspiracy to commit felony theft.
Officers were called to Walmart on Homer Road just after 10 a.m. Saturday after the pair reportedly stole merchandise from the store.
The nearly hour-long chase has ended at West 69th Street and Union Avenue in Shreveport when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a power line pole causing a Minden police unit to slam into the back of the vehicle.
During the chase, the third suspect jumped out of the car somewhere in Shreveport’s Highland neighborhood, according to an officer with Shreveport police.
While searching through the vehicle, Minden police found a gun inside.
The Walmart manager said they ran out of the store with multiple $200 hoverboards.
Multiple law enforcement agencies chased the white Chevy Impala from Minden I-20 westbound all the way to Shreveport.
Louisiana state troopers reportedly tried to use stop sticks in order to stop the vehicle at mile marker 28.
Minden police suspended their search for the third suspect involved in the incident hours after the chase ended.
Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, Shreveport Police Department and Louisiana State Police were assisting MPD in the chase.
