A woman accused of felony theft by shoplifting was arrested by Minden police.

Hannah M. Moss, 29, of the 100 block of Yount Drive, was arrested Thursday, March 31, on a warrant for felony theft of goods and on a hold by the Office of Probation and Parole.

Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says the warrant stems from an incident that took place Thursday, March 17, when she went into a local business and took items without paying for them.

“Moss went into the store, gathered up several items, went to the counter and tried to use a credit or debit card,” he said. “The card was no good, so she left the business. After she left the business, the owner was a little suspicious, so she went over to where Moss was shopping and found some empty boxes.”

When police reviewed video surveillance, Cropper says it showed Moss opening boxes and placing items down the front of her shirt. Police then collected evidence and obtained a warrant for her arrest.

“She had several prior shoplifting convictions, so they obtained the warrant for felony theft of goods,” Cropper said.

She was booked at police headquarters and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
