Traffic stop leads to drug arrest, fugitive status revealed

by Minden Press-Herald

A routine traffic stop on January 17 resulted in the arrest of an Arkansas man wanted on outstanding warrants after authorities discovered drugs and a false identity.

At approximately 3:51 PM, Minden police conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Ford Mustang traveling 93 mph in a 70-mph zone. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers detected the odor of marijuana. The driver initially identified himself as Javonte Rochell but lacked identification.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found 28.67 ounces of marijuana in the center console. After further questioning, the driver admitted to providing a false name to avoid arrest due to outstanding warrants in Arkansas.

The man, later identified as Santtiario Carson, 32, of El Dorado, Arkansas, had his identity confirmed by a driver’s license found hidden in his shoe. Carson was arrested and booked at the Minden Police Department before being transported to the Bayou Correctional Center.

Carson faces charges of simple possession of marijuana, failure to identify, injuring public records, and being a fugitive from Union County, Arkansas.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
