Two arrested on drug charges after blocking roadway in Minden

by Minden Press-Herald

Two individuals were arrested early Thursday morning on drug charges after obstructing traffic on Gladney Street, Minden police reported.

At approximately 3:45 AM on May 23, an officer was conducting a routine patrol on Goode Avenue when he encountered a man and woman walking north on Gladney Street. Their positioning in the southbound lane forced the officer to maneuver his patrol unit into the opposing lane. The officer activated his emergency lights and made contact with the individuals, later identified as Mary Woodall, 32, and William Theus, 37.

Both subjects were sweating profusely, and Woodall displayed signs of nervousness and spoke in excited utterances. The officer advised both subjects of their Miranda rights due to Woodall’s demeanor.

Another officer arrived on the scene and discovered drug paraphernalia in plain view inside Theus’s backpack. The items included a digital scale, a glass pipe taped to a medicine bottle, and syringes, one of which contained 25 units of liquid methamphetamine, which tested positive on the scene.

Theus was placed under arrest and transported to the Minden Police Department for booking, where he was held in a cell. Both Woodall and Theus were charged with simple obstruction of a highway of commerce, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.

This incident highlights ongoing efforts by Minden law enforcement to address drug-related activities and maintain road safety.

All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
