Two Minden nonprofit organizations will receive a combined $15,000 through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas’ Partnership Grant Program, with funding awarded in partnership with Bonvenu Bank.
Phillip’s Cottage received $9,000, while Project Reclaim of Louisiana Inc. received $6,000. The Minden awards are part of more than $702,000 distributed to Louisiana community organizations through the program this year.
Phillip’s Cottage provides transitional housing and support to women with children who have graduated from Louisiana Adult & Teen Challenge. The Minden nonprofit was established in memory of Phillip Carroll and is designed to provide mothers and their children with a stable environment as they transition into independent living.
The funding will help Phillip’s Cottage expand life-skills programming, connect residents with educational and financial resources, and strengthen the organization’s capacity to serve families.
Project Reclaim, meanwhile, is a Minden-based youth leadership academy serving elementary through high school students. The organization provides after-school programming, academic assistance, leadership and life-skills training, service-learning opportunities, and other activities aimed at helping young people develop academically and socially.
Project Reclaim also operates the Louisiana Youth for Excellence, or LYFE, program, which teaches healthy relationships, goal setting, decision-making, avoidance of risky behaviors, and self-worth. They have recently partnered with the Youth Challenge Program at Camp Minden to provide LYFE training to cadets in addition to its regular programs for local youth.
The two Minden grants were among awards to community organizations across Louisiana through FHLB Dallas’ Partnership Grant Program. The bank announced the grants on September 10 as it celebrated the 30th anniversary of the program.
Under the program, FHLB Dallas member financial institutions contribute between $500 and $5,000 to qualifying nonprofit organizations. FHLB Dallas then provides a 5-to-1 match, with up to $25,000 in matching funds available to an organization for each participating member institution.
Grant funds may be used for organizational capacity building, assistance in applying for other grants and funding sources, research and studies, contractual services, and general operating expenses.
“The PGP amplifies the generosity of our members, enabling nonprofits to expand their reach and deliver greater results,” said Greg Hettrick, senior vice president and director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas. “Our collaboration with member institutions is at the heart of community progress, and the PGP is a powerful tool for advancing that mission.”
Across Louisiana, FHLB Dallas and 18 member institutions awarded $702,633 through the program. Overall, more than $1.8 million was awarded through the Partnership Grant Program across FHLB Dallas’ five-state district of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas.
