Two Webster Parish schools closed Friday

by Minden Press-Herald

Two schools in Webster Parish will be closed Friday, one for ongoing construction and the other as military officials conduct the first burn of clean burning igniter at Camp Minden.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Dan Rawls says out of an abundance of caution Doyline School will be closed as the first burn at Camp Minden is to take place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

“That was just too big of a window,” he said, “so we just closed the school out of an abundance of caution.”

The busses that normally take their route through Camp Minden will be rerouted.

The other school to close Friday is J.A. Phillips Middle School. As construction of the new wing continues, electricity to the campus must be turned off so construction crews can install an electrical trunk line.

School at these two campuses will resume as normal Monday morning.
