February 22 is Veteran Suicide Awareness Day. Approximately 22 veterans take their lives each day. On February 22 at 2:22, three local residents participated in a 2.2 mile walk: Jerry Madden representing Sons of the American Revolution, Cindy Madden representing Daughters of the American Revolution, and Spencer Creech representing Children of the American Revolution. Each participant carried an American flag and stopped to talk to residents they met along the way. These three organizations are fostering community relationships for veterans through various outreach programs. One suicide is one suicide too many.
