Virginia Jinks Newman of Minden, LA passed away December 7, 2023, to be with her heavenly Father. Virginia was born April 9, 1936, to the late Harvey and Willie Mae Jinks in Rayville, Louisiana. She lived there through the 6th grade and then moved to Nachez, Mississippi. She graduated from Natchez High School in 1954.
Virginia was married 52 years to the late James Edward Newman of Bude Mississippi. They moved to California in 1957, and returned to Louisiana in 1985, and lived out their lives.
Virginia was preceded in death by her sister Evelyn Jinks Brewer and husband W.J. of Minden, brothers, Kenneth Lavelle Jinks and wife Mary of Dothan, Alabama and Carl Clayton Jinks and wife Sandra of Minden.
She is survived by her sons, Monte Newman of Minden and Eugene Scott Newman and wife Margie of Arizona; granddaughter, Jessica Newman Murdock and husband Chris; grandsons, James Colby Newman and Eugene Scott Newman, Jr; great-grandson Rowan Tristan Murdock, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, December 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. with services following at 11:00 a.m. at Heflin Baptist Church in Heflin, Louisiana with Bro. Ronnie Osborne officiating. Interment will be at Bistineau Cemetery in Heflin, Louisiana under the direction of Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana.
