WASHINGTON — The Cullen Fire Protection Organization, District No. 6 has received a $50,972 federal grant that will be used to purchase firefighter safety equipment.
U.S. Senator David Vitter, R-La., announced the award in a press release Thursday. The grant comes through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
“Making sure our firefighters receive the necessary equipment, vehicles, and training in order to protect Louisiana communities is a real priority of mine,” Vitter said in the release.
Cullen Fire Chief Thomas Arnold says the funds will be used to help keep firefighters safe.
“This grant will go to purchase much needed gear for our firemen, to keep them safe while fighting fires,” Arnold said.
