Webster Jr. High Beta Club compete in Belcher

On Saturday, Nov. 7, 60 Beta Club members from Webster Jr. High competed in a district Beta competition held at Herndon Magnet School in Belcher. The National Beta club is the nation’s largest youth organization who purpose is to encourage and reward academic achievement, and promote those qualities of character that make for good citizenship. Beta Club members competed in the following competitions: Tower of Power, Living literature, Group talent, Quiz Bowl, Poster, Banner, and T-shirt competition.

The state convention will be held Feb. 24 through 26 at the Cajundome in Lafayette. Regina Salone is sponsor and LaTanjorea Smith is co-sponsor of the club.

The results of the competition are as follows:

1st place – Tower of Power (qualified for state competition)
2nd place – Quiz bowl (qualified for state competition)
2nd place Group talent (qualified for state competition)
2nd place T-shirt (qualified for state competition)
2nd place Poster (qualified for state competition)
3rd place – Living literature.
