Webster Parish 4-H members are heading into a full calendar of activities this fall and winter, with service projects, contests, and learning opportunities designed to build leadership and community spirit.
The annual canned food drive is underway now through November 20. Donations can be turned in to club leaders or dropped off at the 4-H office. The school club collecting the most cans will win a party. All canned goods will be distributed to local families in need.
Other upcoming events this month include meetings for the Homeschool Club, Cooking Club, and Junior Leaders on November 10, followed by participation in AgMagic at the State Fair of Louisiana from November 12–14. The State Fair concludes November 16. The 4-H office will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 27–28.
December brings a mix of holiday fun and educational opportunities. Members can take part in an ornament decorating contest by bringing their decorated ornaments to December school club meetings. The top three winners will receive ribbons, and entries will be displayed on the 4-H office Christmas tree.
The Spark-Action-Change Summit, open to seventh- and eighth-grade students, is set for February 19–21, 2026, in Baton Rouge. Participants will explore how government works, complete service-learning projects, and develop leadership skills. Registration costs $150 and is due by December 1.
Students in grades seven and eight can also sign up for Challenge Camp 2026, themed “Get in the Game with 4-H.” The overnight event will be held February 5–6, 2026, in Pelican. The camp focuses on teamwork and leadership through hands-on challenges. Registration is $85 and closes January 9.
High school seniors are encouraged to apply for the 4-H Senior Scholarship, with completed applications due February 12, 2026. Applications and requirements are available through the 4-H office or by contacting 4-H Agent K’Lanie.
The Shooting Sports Club, which closed registration at the end of October, has begun weekly practices. Coaches are communicating with members through the Remind App.
4-H members are also cooking up success through the parish’s new Cooking Club. According to a recent Facebook post, “Our first Cooking Club meeting was a success! The kids had a blast flipping pancakes and learning their way around the kitchen. We can’t wait to cook up something new next month!”
