Webster Parish business owner charged with felony theft

by Minden Press-Herald

A Webster Parish business owner was charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle after a yearlong dispute over a 2013 Dodge RAM 1500.

According to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, the incident began in January 2024 when the truck’s owner left the vehicle at a A1 Auto Shop on Dorcheat Road for repairs. The shop owner, identified as Brent Duane Sikes, reported that the vehicle owner owed $850 for labor.

Deputies say Sikes was informed by the owner that payment would be made but that more time was needed to settle the balance. However, in July 2024, Sikes sold the Dodge RAM for $500 without completing the necessary paperwork to transfer ownership with the State of Louisiana.

Authorities reported that Sikes made no attempt to contact the vehicle owner before the sale. In a conversation on January 10, 2025, Sikes reportedly told the vehicle owner that the shop had been repossessed by the bank, and all vehicles on the property had been taken.

Following an investigation, Sikes was charged with felony theft of a motor vehicle.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
