Webster Parish Libraries is rolling out the red carpet for its annual Trunk-or-Treat celebration, trading last year’s Hogwarts-inspired adventure for a trip to the movies with its 2026 theme, “SCENE IT: Library Edition!”
The family-friendly celebration will take place Tuesday, October 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Minden Branch, with a rain date of Thursday, October 22, during the same hours. The festivities will continue at the Springhill Branch on Thursday, October 29, from 5 to 7 PM, with a rain date of Friday, October 30.
This year’s event will transform the libraries into cinematic experiences featuring elaborate movie-themed displays, decorated trunks, immersive attractions, and plenty of candy.
Local businesses and organizations will once again participate in Trunk-or-Treat Lane, decorating their vehicles with creative displays inspired by everything from timeless classics and family favorites to fantasy and adventure films. Children and their families can make their way through the displays, collecting treats along the way.
The festivities will also extend inside the libraries with the return of the popular Attraction House, this year titled “SCENE IT!” The immersive walkthrough will take visitors through a collection of movie-inspired scenes, bringing familiar cinematic worlds to life through decorations and creative displays.
“Step beyond the screen and into a cinematic experience filled with larger-than-life scenes, creative trunks, movie-inspired attractions, and plenty of candy at every turn,” the library announced.
The annual celebration has become one of Webster Parish Libraries’ largest community events. Last year’s “Platform 9¾ Trunk or Treat Part 2,” inspired by the Harry Potter series, drew crowds across Minden, Springhill, and Doyline that far surpassed the previous year’s record attendance of 3,400. The event also featured elaborate attractions handcrafted by library staff, with lines in Minden stretching down two major streets.
This year’s movie theme offers another opportunity for library staff, participating organizations, and community members to showcase their creativity while providing families with a festive Halloween experience.
Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and bring the whole family.
The Minden Branch is located at 521 East and West Street. For additional information, including event updates, parking arrangements, and announcements, visit websterpl.org or follow Webster Parish Libraries on Facebook.
As the library’s announcement puts it, “Grab your costume, bring the whole family, and get ready for a blockbuster evening — you’ll have to SCENE IT to believe it!”
