Morris Guin is sworn in as Webster Parish Tax Assessor by newly elected appeals court judge Jeff Cox Wednesday.
Guin was able to trim the assessor’s office budget in 2013 and 2014 by more than $500,000 each year.
“During my first term in office, I was pleased to be able to trim the operating expenses and pass on savings to Webster Parish residents by reducing their property taxes a total of over one million dollars.” Guin said.
He thanked the dedicated staff for providing citizens with courteous and efficient service.
“We want to be good stewards of the office operating funds by identifying new opportunities to improve our efficiency in operations and effectiveness in serving our citizens,” he said.
Deputy Assistant Denise Edwards was sworn in after Guin, followed by the staff, pledging to uphold the values of the office.
