Before we go any further, let me say in spite of the crazy song from the sixties, Jeremiah was NOT a bullfrog! Now that we have that out of the way, let’s see who Jeremiah really was. He was commissioned as a “prophet to the nations” even before he was conceived, we are told in the first chapter, verse 5. He was the son of a priest from the small town Anathoth, outside Jerusalem. Jeremiah’s ministry began in the thirteenth year of “good King Josiah’s reign, and we last hear of him some forty years later when he is forced into exile into Egypt by the rebellious leaders of Jerusalem.
I would like to invite you to a community wide, non-denominational Bible study, which has met beginning each Fall, for over 50 years. Our study this year will begin Friday, September 5th at 9:30 a.m., for ladies of all ages. Monday, September 8th at 6:30 will begin the same lesson for men and ladies, couples and singles and we often have youth. There will be a study guide available for a nominal fee.
Our text is the Bible. We study by examining the Scriptures– the Whole Counsel of God. Our belief is that the Bible is the inerrant, Holy Spirit inspired Word of God. My greatest joy is studying and teaching the Word. I eagerly invite you to join us Friday morning or Monday evening. We meet at these times every week in the First Baptist reception room. Come in through the patio. Come early to visit and fellowship! We will be waiting to see you.
