Wine Walk at Minden Christmas festivities benefits Ronald McDonald House

by Amber McDown

The Greater Minden Chamber of Commerce recently presented Janell Mason, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas, with a $5,000 check.

The Chamber hosted a Wine Walk as part of the Christmas in Minden celebrations last December. The event, held in downtown Minden, raised funds for the Ronald McDonald House Shreveport-Bossier. The check was presented during the Chamber’s recent Awards Gala.

The proceeds from the Wine Walk will contribute to the construction of a new 23,000 square foot, 3-story house, which will feature 20 suites. This new facility aims to provide families with a safe and relaxing environment, offering the comforts of home during challenging times. The house will serve as a refuge for families with a seriously ill or injured child, up to age 21, receiving treatment in any Shreveport hospital.

At the heart of the Ronald McDonald House is the mission to alleviate the stress and financial burden faced by families during their child’s medical crisis. All services provided by the Ronald McDonald House are free, ensuring that families can focus on what truly matters—their child’s care.

Once operational, the Ronald McDonald House will accept referrals from hospital social workers, ensuring that families in need are able to access its services.
