The season isn’t quite over for the Grambling State University women’s basketball team. The Lady Tigers will travel to Tulsa, Okla., to take on Oral Roberts in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament.

The game is set to take place on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. CST at the Mabee Center. Broadcast information will be released soon.

Grambling State, led by first year head coach Courtney Simmons, wrapped up its 2023-24 season with a 22-9 overall record and 15-3 mark in conference play. The Lady Tigers reached the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) semifinals last week as the No. 2 seed.

GSU was impressive enough this season to lock down an automatic spot in the WNIT.

Oral Roberts worked its way into the tournament after going 21-10 and 11-5 in the Summit League. The Golden east fell to North Dakota State 75-66 in the Summit League tournament on March 11.

Thursday’s contest will mark the third meeting all-time between the two programs. Grambling State currently holds a 2-0 series lead with the most recent being an 89-80 win over ORU on Dec. 15, 2011.

The 2024 Postseason WNIT, in its 26th season, features a 48-team bracket. The tournament field is made up of 11 automatic qualifiers and 37 at-large programs, flexing a mix of Power 4 conferences as well as ascending mid-major programs.
