WPSB expenditures approved in May

During the May 1 school board meeting, the Webster Parish School Board approved a number of expenditures to help maintain and improve campuses across Webster Parish.

The board approved payment of an invoice from Mechanical Concepts for replacing a defective Daikin coil and TXV in the girl’s restroom on the 2nd grade wing at Central Elementary School in the amount of $2,929.95 using the Consolidated District 3 Maintenance Fund.

The board also approved payment of an invoice from Mechanical Concepts for repairing a fan motor, inverter board, and wiring harness to Daikin Compressor on the junior high wing at Doyline High School in the amount of $5,571.52. This was paid out of the Doyline Maintenance Fund.

The board gave permission to declare two unused portable buildings at Doyline High School as surplus and allow said buildings to be advertised for sale and sold to the highest sealed bidder.

Using the District 6  1/2 Cent Sales Tax Fund, the board approved payment of an invoice from Fitzgerald Contractors for repairing a leak on a 1 ¼” water line at Phillips Elementary School in the amount of $2,228.50. The board also approved the purchase of a pressure washer from Tractor Supply for Richardson Elementary School for $649.99.

The Sarepta Maintenance Fund will be used to pay Wooten Construction LLC to “finish out” the concessions building at North Webster Junior High School football field in the amount of $18,000.00. The board also approved the proposal from Wooten Construction LLC to repair and reseed the football playing field at the North Webster Junior High School football field in the amount of $8,000.00.

Mechanical Cooling Services will be paid $3,672.00 for replacing the Spyder controls for a VAV at North Webster Lower Elementary School using the Shongaloo Building Fund.

Finally, using the Springhill Maintenance Fund, Mechanical Cooling Services will be paid $2,500.00 for replacing a defective hot water circulation pump, $1,150.00 for replacing an air valve VAV, and $4,400.00 for replacing a circulating pump on a boiler at North Webster High School.

The Webster Parish School Board continually seeks to improve and maintain their campuses across the parish to give students excellent environments to learn in. School board meetings are open to the public. The next meeting will be held at the school board office on June 12, 2023, at 6 PM.
