Youngsters engage in creative activities at Webster Parish Library

by Amber McDown

On August 29, a group of enthusiastic youngsters gathered at the Webster Parish Library’s Minden branch for an engaging session of storytime intertwined with the art of crafting beaded bracelets and necklaces. The event not only fostered creativity but also offered a platform for honing fine motor skills.

Kaitlyn Taylor, the dedicated children’s coordinator, emphasized the benefits of beading jewelry for children. “Beading jewelry encourages kids to hone their fine motor skills and is a great way to express creativity. The repetitive motion of stringing beads is relaxing and therapeutic,” Taylor said.

Further enriching the creative landscape, on August 31, teenagers converged at the same location under the guidance of Aubrie Stahl, the teen coordinator. The event’s highlight was the creation of tie-dyed t-shirts, an endeavor that enabled the teenagers to showcase their individuality through vibrant patterns and color selections.

The collaborative and social atmosphere of the event was evident as the teenagers mingled, shared design ideas, and eagerly anticipated the unveiling of their personalized tie-dyed t-shirt creations. The event showcased the library’s commitment to providing a diverse range of engaging activities for the youth, fostering skill development and imaginative expression.
