The Young Women’s Service Club of Minden has launched a new Community Hero recognition series highlighting local residents whose service and projects are making a difference in the community, with Neisa Murray named as the program’s first honoree.
Heather Feeback of the Young Women’s Service Club said the club created the recognition as another way to thank those serving Minden while also raising awareness of community resources and projects.
“As a club, we decided to shine the spotlight on local citizens who are making a difference in our community,” Feeback said. “We accept nominations from the public and also club members. The nominees are then presented to the board and whoever receives the most votes gets a post highlighting their selfless contribution to Minden. It’s just a small way that we are able to say ‘thank you’ while also letting our followers know what resources and projects are out there.”
Murray was selected for her work with Hearts & Halos, an organization that supports families grieving from pregnancy and infant loss.
“Hearts & Halos is more than a service — it is compassion during unimaginable grief,” Murray’s nomination read. “Neisa gives families support, dignity, and the reassurance that their child will be honored with love. Her willingness to stand beside families during their darkest days speaks volumes about her heart and character. A community hero is someone who shows up when people need them most, and that is exactly what Neisa does.”
YWSC said the recognition honors Murray for the impact of her service to families throughout the community.
Murray and the Hearts & Halos team are also preparing for the second annual Angel Baby Fun Run & Halo Fest, scheduled for October 10 at Miller Quarters Park.
