Chamber gala is one week away

by Minden Press-Herald

The one-week countdown begins. The Greater Minden Chamber’s 76th will take place next Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Minden Civic Center.

The annual membership banquet has been dubbed “A Red Carpet Awards Gala,” and it will look a little different than in previous years.

“If you’ve attended this event in the past, there will be a few new exciting changes this year,” said Stephanie Barnette, Chamber president. “Instead of a speaker, we will have entertainment in between our award announcements.
“Our hope is that you really do feel like you’re at an awards show.”

The entertainment Barnette mentioned will be provided by 2017 Miss Louisiana Laryssa Bonacquisti and young gospel singer Jacob “Jake” Cowley.

Emcees for the event will be Webster Parish School Board Superintendent Johnny Rowland and Jake Chapman, who covers the Minden Crimson Tide football games on KASO/KBEF.

The awards to be announced at the gala include Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year, and Community Partner of the Year. In addition, the Minden Lions Club and Young Women’s Service Club will reveal the Man and Woman of the Year.

“This is our area’s premier networking event and a great opportunity to come out and support our local businesses who have worked hard and made great accomplishments over the past year,” Barnette said. “We’ve had a sell-out crowd the last few years, and this year is proving to be no different. If you do not make it to any other Chamber event this year, this is the one to come to.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the program set to begin at 7. The presenting sponsor is Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Minden.

Tickets are $45 each and can be purchased at the Greater Minden Chamber office. For more information call 318-377-4240.
