North Webster Knights victorious on the road at Delhi, 57-14

by Minden Press-Herald

DELHI – The North Webster Knights made the long trip over to Delhi for a non-district showdown. Going into the game, Knights head coach John Ware was worried about how his team would respond to another long bus ride and facing another spread offense. His worries were dissolved after a few minutes of game time.

North Webster got going early and often cruising to a 57-14 win. “We controlled the game right off the bat really,” Ware said. “We dominated them up front. It took us only one or two plays to get into the endzone on our first drive and that was kind of how it went all night. We tried to work on some things in the passing game but the score didn’t really allow that.” Ware also praised the weekly progression the Knights have made.

“We’re improving each week and that’s all we ask of these guys.” Ware said. “We’re maturing a little bit more when we can go on the road like this.” Devin White led the Knights offense with nine carries for 118 yards and two TD’s. Jalen Smith had a huge game with four carries for 97 yards and three TD’s and Lyntravious Gipson totaled 51 yards and two scores. Kolby Cooper was 3 for 3 passing with 38 yards passing and one touchdown to Willie Lee. North Webster’s next contest will be at home against the Bossier Bearkats at home in Springhill. That game is slated to kickoff at 7 p.m.
