Punishers LEMC organizes fundraiser for injured deputy sergeant

by Amber McDown

Members of the Punishers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (LEMC) rallied together to support Deputy Sergeant Aaron Barnes, who sustained severe injuries in January 2024 after being struck by a vehicle. The fundraiser, known as the Ambush Poker Run, commenced on May 4, kicking off at The Back Porch on Sibley Road in Minden, and successfully raised over $2,000.

Sergeant Aaron “Rage” Barnes, an esteemed member of the Punishers/Ambush brotherhood and a dedicated sergeant serving with the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office, was injured in the line of duty. The primary objective of the fundraiser is to gather financial support for Barnes and his family during his period of recuperation.

The event, marked by various stops including The Back Porch in Minden, Boomers in Princeton, Sharpe’s in Springhill, Daddy’s Barn in Haynesville, and Roma Italian Bistro in Minden, offered participants the chance to compete for the best and worst hands, with the best hand earning a $100 prize and the worst hand a $50 prize. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in door prize drawings and raffles for additional items.

Sheriff Jason Parker of the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office expressed sincere appreciation for the fundraiser, stating, “We’re happy that they’re doing that for Aaron, and we’re going to try to do what we can to help him. We really appreciate what they’re doing.”

This event not only demonstrates the strong bond and support within the law enforcement community but also underscores the commitment to stand by their own during challenging times.
