Allegedly failing to stop for a red light Friday was just the beginning of trouble for a Minden woman who now faces a litany of charges, including possession of illegal narcotics.
Jackie Martin Hickey, a 61-year-old resident of West Todd in Minden, faces charges of possession of CDS Sch. I (marijuana), possession of CDS Sch. II (methamphetamine), two counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled, dangerous substance, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Chief of police Steve Cropper said Hickey is also charged with driving under suspension and running a red light.
Cropper said Officer First Class Chris Hammontree stopped Hickey’s vehicle after observing her going through a red light at the intersection of Sheppard Street and Sibley Road.
“Officer Hammontree found Hickey’s license was suspended and learned she was wanted on a warrant issued by our office,” Cropper said. “After she was placed under arrest, a search of the vehicle revealed two firearms in the back seat floorboard and a silver metal case.”
Cropper said inside the case officers found a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine, a spoon used for cooking methamphetamine, a marijuana pipe containing suspected burned and unburned loose marijuana, two scales, one containing suspected methamphetamine residue and a one quarter of an unidentified pill.
“Officers also found a small bottle of butane which is commonly used for inhaling,” the chief said.
