Nonprofit 22 Hands Up will host a free college and career tour at Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College on Monday, June 8, from 10 AM to 1 PM, giving area youth an opportunity to explore educational and career pathways available close to home.
The event is open to students interested in learning more about technical education and workforce opportunities. Participants will tour the campus, explore available resources, connect with professionals, and take part in hands-on demonstrations designed to showcase a variety of career fields.
Students will be introduced to programs in automotive technology, skilled trades and welding, electrical and technical training, and healthcare pathways. Organizers said the tour is intended to help young people gain a better understanding of potential career options and the training required to enter those fields.
The event is part of 22 Hands Up’s ongoing mission to prepare youth for future success through educational enrichment, mentorship, leadership development and life-skills training. The Minden-based nonprofit serves youth throughout Webster, Claiborne, and Bienville parishes and regularly hosts workshops focused on financial literacy, health and wellness, career readiness, and personal development.
Organizers said the NLTCC tour will provide students with firsthand exposure to career opportunities that are in demand across the region while helping them begin thinking about their educational and professional goals.
A limited number of spots remain available. To register, contact Brian Shanklin at (318) 990-6136.
