3rd Annual Pete Colvin Memorial Rodeo crowns champions in Minden

The 3rd Annual Pete Colvin Memorial Rodeo, hosted by the renowned Louisiana 4 Ranch & Rodeo, took center stage on August 4 and 5, showcasing some of the finest rodeo talents in the region. This thrilling event saw riders and ropers from across the country gather to compete for glory and honor, making it a truly unforgettable experience for both participants and spectators.

The rodeo was sanctioned by the Louisiana Rodeo Cowboys Association (LRCA), ensuring the highest standards of competition and sportsmanship throughout the two-day event. Judged by Teddy Alleman and Randy Herbert, the rodeo featured intense competitions in various disciplines, where riders and ropers put their skills to the test.

In the Bareback Riding category, Monty Fontenot claimed victory with an impressive score of 70, earning him a well-deserved reward of $367.20. Following closely behind, Jakob Simoneaux secured second place with a score of 65, taking home $244.80.

Drew Bordelon proved his prowess in Saddle Bronc Riding, scoring an impressive 60, and winning a substantial prize of $576.50.

The Breakaway Roping event saw fierce competition, with Brylee Braden emerging as the champion with a lightning-fast time of 2.19, earning her a remarkable $782.30. Anna Marie Pierce and Anna Williams clinched the second and third spots, respectively.

Tie Down Roping showcased exceptional talent, with Bart Brunson finishing on top with a remarkable time of 8.77, securing a handsome prize of $808.30. Cutter Carpenter and Cheyenne Harper claimed second and third places, respectively.

In the Steer Wrestling category, Kase Busby demonstrated his skill and agility, taking the top position with a time of 4.42, and earning $649.05. Jase Norwood and Brad Hesnor followed suit, securing second and third places, respectively.

The thrilling Bull Riding event witnessed the fearless Baler Raymond emerging as the champion, with a high-flying score of 86, bagging a reward of $400.32. Carter Shaw and Trey Carroll tied for second place, both scoring an impressive 84.

The Barrel Racing competition saw Anika Ruth storming to victory, clocking an incredible time of 15.950 and earning a well-deserved reward of $693.10. Kellie Hebert and Kayleigh Odom secured second and third places, respectively.

Team Roping brought its own share of excitement, with Peyton Walters and Cole Carpenter sealing their triumph with a lightning-fast time of 5.04 and sharing a substantial prize of $1,004.16. Bart Brunson and Trace Porter secured the second spot with a time of 5.19.

Apart from the main events, the Home Town Barrels provided additional exhilaration and local excitement. The winners for Friday’s Home Town Barrels were Landen English, Morgan Iman, and Lindsay Zanca, claiming their share of the $190 prize pool.

On Saturday, Landen English once again displayed unmatched talent and speed, taking the top spot, while Abby Caraway and McKenzie Lovett secured the second and third positions, respectively. They all walked away with a well-deserved share of the $240 prize pool.

The 3rd Annual Pete Colvin Memorial Rodeo was undoubtedly a resounding success, paying homage to the late rodeo legend and bringing the community together to celebrate the spirit of rodeo sportsmanship and camaraderie. As the dust settles on another unforgettable rodeo, the organizers and participants are already looking forward to next year’s event, promising an even more spectacular show for rodeo enthusiasts to enjoy.
