Several youth from Webster Parish 4-H earned honors during the annual 4-H University, held June 16-20 on the campus of Louisiana State University.
The statewide event brought together hundreds of 4-H members from across Louisiana for a week of workshops, career exploration, leadership development and contests. Participants had the opportunity to work with LSU AgCenter faculty and industry professionals while gaining skills in teamwork, public speaking and critical thinking.
Webster Parish participants brought home several top placements. Landen Knotts, Jacob Talarchyk and Luke Butcher placed second in the ESports contest. Ayauna Roberson earned fifth place overall in the Healthy Living Illustrated Talk contest. Madison McGraw placed tenth in Public Speaking – Any Topic, and Preston Coleman placed eighth in the Outdoor Skills contest.

Additional Webster Parish 4-H members participated in a variety of contests, including Drake Puckett and Hayden Gregg in Outdoor Skills; Carley Powell and Mallory Coleman in Photography; Hunter Richards and Haylon Maddox in ATV Safety; and Emmersyn Demmon and Abigail Butcher in Fishing Sports.
Drake Puckett was also selected as a Louisiana 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador.
“These youth represented our parish with pride,” said K’Lanie Gordon, assistant extension agent for 4-H in Webster Parish. “We are incredibly proud of these young leaders and all they accomplished during 4-H University.”
