Thunderstorms cause widespread outages in Webster Parish

Severe thunderstorms moving through Webster Parish on Tuesday afternoon left more than 1,700 homes and businesses without electricity, making it the hardest-hit parish in Louisiana by customer percentage, according to data from Find Energy.

As of 4:31 PM CDT on May 6, 2025, 1,745 of the 16,303 tracked customers in Webster Parish were without power, accounting for 10.7% of all utility customers in the area. The parish currently ranks third in the state for the total number of outages and has the highest outage ratio in Louisiana.

Claiborne Electric Cooperative, one of three utility providers serving the parish, reported the highest number of customers affected, with 1,703 outages. This figure represents 47.85% of its total customer base in the area.

The outages come as severe weather continues to move through the region, with conditions still active at the time of this report. Emergency crews and utility providers are expected to begin assessments and repairs as soon as it is safe to do so.
