Crates of bright orange pumpkins arrived Sunday, September 28, at First Methodist Church of Minden as volunteers prepared for the opening of the church’s annual Pumpkin Patch.
Church members, along with men from Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center, helped unload the truckload of pumpkins. Sales began Monday, September 29, and will continue through October 31.
The Pumpkin Patch, open Monday through Saturday from 1 PM to 7 PM, offers pumpkins of all sizes and varieties, including Snowball Pumpkins, Gourds, Weebies, Spookies, and Swan Gourds. Prices are based on size, with proceeds benefiting the church’s missions and children’s ministries.
In addition to shopping, families are invited to enjoy photo opportunities set up throughout the patch. The event has become a fall tradition in Minden, drawing visitors of all ages.
Funds raised through the Pumpkin Patch go to the FMC Missions Committee, which supports both local and global outreach efforts.
The church encourages the community to visit the patch, located in front of First Methodist Church, and take part in this seasonal event.
