4-H exhibitors shine at 2025 Webster Parish Fair Junior Livestock Show

The 2025 Webster Parish Fair Junior Livestock Show, also known as the 4-H Livestock Show, brought together youth exhibitors September 30 through October 3 to demonstrate their livestock knowledge, showmanship skills and dedication to animal care.

Participants began by presenting animals for showmanship competition, where judges evaluated exhibitors on handling, breed knowledge and care practices before moving to class judging in the show arena.

Poultry and rabbits
The show opened September 30 with poultry and rabbit divisions. Poultry participants included Ina Lee, Christian Smith, Ave Mae Smith, Taylor Rayner and Lennie Garza. Rayner earned Champion Poultry Showman and Champion Poultry of Show, while Garza received Reserve Champion Showman and Reserve Champion Poultry.

Rabbit participants were Nevaeh Lugo, Emmerysn Demmnon, Erianna White, Jakaden Nelms, Tinsley Sanders, Jordan Smith and Ava Smith. Lugo was named Champion Rabbit Showman, and Sanders earned Reserve Champion Rabbit Showman as well as both Champion and Reserve Champion Rabbit of Show.

Swine
Swine showmanship took place October 1, with results divided by age group. In Class I (ages 17 and up), winners were Zander Thompson, first; Noah Baker, second; and Camryn Nail, third. Class II (ages 15–16) was won by Levi DeHart, and Class III (ages 9–12) was led by Nash Leonard. Thompson earned Champion Swine Showman, and Baker was named Reserve Champion.

In the Market Swine competition, Thompson swept Class 1 with the top three spots, while Nail won Class 2 with a 233-pound entry. Leonard took first in Class 3 and Class 4, with DeHart and Baker taking second in those respective classes. Thompson was named both Champion and Reserve Champion Market Swine.

Goats and lambs
Goat showmanship began October 2, with Rayner winning Champion Goat Showman and Payton earning Reserve Champion. Market goat classes were divided by weight, from 75 to 132 pounds. Payton’s entry won Champion Market Goat, while Rayner’s was Reserve Champion.

In the Commercial Doe division, Payton earned Champion Commercial Doe for her doeling “Phynix” and Reserve Champion Commercial Doe for her aged doe “Pae Pae.”

Rayner also claimed Champion Lamb Showman and Champion Market Lamb with a 127-pound entry.

Beef
Beef Showmanship winners included Hayden Williams, first in 16 years and up; Peyton Williams, first in ages 13–14; and Adeline Evans, first in ages 9–11. Hayden Williams earned Grand Champion Beef Showman, and Peyton Williams was Reserve Champion.

In the Prospect Steer division, Peyton Williams took Champion, and Ryder Thomas earned Reserve Champion with entries weighing between 543 and 690 pounds. Taylyn Bates won Champion Steer in the 993-pound class, which was auctioned during the Friday sale.

In the breeding divisions, Evans was named Champion Commercial Heifer, and Audrey Thomas received Reserve Champion. Hayden Williams earned Champion Beefmaster Heifer, and Peyton Williams was Reserve Champion. Williams also won Overall Champion Heifer with “Supermodel,” while Peyton Williams received Reserve Champion Heifer honors with “Izzy.”

Doug Sale Memorial Award
The show concluded with the Doug Sale Memorial Award competition, a test of adaptability in which competitors handle species outside their primary divisions. Contestants included Hayden Williams representing beef, Zander Thompson representing swine, Reace Payton representing goats, and Taylor Rayner representing lambs. Rayner earned the 2025 Doug Sale Memorial Award.
